The SEAOC Blue Book: Past, Present, and Future

Abstract

The presentation will explore the Blue Book, its inception and evolution.  It will also focus on one of the most useful articles published in its latest edition (The Performance Based Design article). The earthquake engineering community has been developing PBD for more than 20 years, with many different contributors and a constantly evolving ethos. The Blue Book was a source for much of the work related to the development of PBD and now it provides an opportunity for exploration of the subject, allowing the association to provide input and thought into the evolving science.
